LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – This has been a season of constant
change, but the top three spots remained the same in the latest
Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) Top 8 Poll.
The Colorado Crush (8-2) held steady at No. 1, receiving
13 first-place votes and 118 points. Colorado, which defeated the
Philadelphia Soul 77-56, is at the No. 8 Chicago Rush (6-4). Chicago
entered the poll after knocking off the San Jose SaberCats 55-39.
At No. 2, the Georgia Force (8-3) received the other two first-place
votes, totaling 104 points. Georgia, which beat the Austin Wranglers
56-53, hosts the Grand Rapids Rampage (1-9).
The Orlando Predators (7-4) remained No. 3 despite falling 54-42
to the Tampa Bay Storm. Orlando hosts the New York Dragons (6-4),
who fell out of the poll from No. 5 after a 66-35 loss to the Los
Angeles Avengers. Though Tampa Bay (6-4) did not overtake Orlando
in the rankings, the Storm received the week's highest boost in
moving up four spots to No. 4. Tampa Bay is at Austin (4-7).
San Jose (6-4), which slid down a place to No. 5, hosts the Dallas
Desperados (6-3-1), who are tied with the Avengers at No. 6. Dallas
remained the same after a 41-41 tie with the Nashville Kats.
Los Angeles suffered the tragic loss when lineman Al Lucas was
killed in its victory over New York. The Avengers, who moved into
the poll, are at Nashville (2-7-1).
