LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – The revolving door that is the No.
1 spot in the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA)
Top 8 Poll has a new member.
The Colorado Crush (7-2) became the seventh team to occupy
the top spot this season, receiving 10 first-place votes and 99
points. Colorado moved up two places following a 61-40 victory over
the Las Vegas Gladiators. The Crush next hosts the Philadelphia
Soul (5-5).
Last week's No. 1, the Georgia Force (7-3), fell slightly to
No. 2 after it was beaten 48-38 by Tampa Bay, which put the Storm
in the poll at No. 8. Georgia hosts the Austin Wranglers (4-6),
and Tampa Bay (5-4) is home against the No. 3 Orlando Predators
(7-3).
Orlando, which beat the Los Angeles Avengers 55-54 in overtime,
moved up two slots. Los Angeles (5-4), which was No. 8, dropped
out of the rankings.
The defending champion San Jose SaberCats (6-3) received three
first-place votes to move up from a tie for sixth into No. 4. San
Jose, which routed the Arizona Rattlers 48-27, is at the Chicago
Rush (5-4).
Chicago defeated the New York Dragons 44-43 to drop them three
spots to No. 5. New York (6-3) is at Los Angeles.
After being tied for No. 6 last week, the Dallas Desperados (6-3)
are alone in that place this week, though they received the remaining
first-place vote. Dallas, which was idle, hosts the Nashville Kats
(2-7).
Following a 56-55 loss to Austin, the New Orleans VooDoo (6-4)
tumbled three spots to No. 7. New Orleans is off.
