LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – The Georgia Force solidified
its hold atop the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA)
Top 8 Poll, receiving all but one first-place vote.
Georgia (7-2) totaled 13 first-place votes and 111 points. The
remaining first-place vote went to the San Jose SaberCats (5-3),
who tied the Dallas Desperados (6-3) for No. 6.
As for the Force, it stayed at No. 1 thanks to a 43-40 victory
over New Orleans, which dropped the VooDoo (6-3) two spots to No.
4. This weekend, Georgia visits the Tampa Bay Storm (4-4), and New
Orleans is at the Austin Wranglers (3-6).
The New York Dragons (6-2) made the biggest advancement, moving
up three places to No. 2 after they edged the Columbus Destroyers
56-55. New York plays at the Chicago Rush (4-4).
Though their 66-58 victory over Dallas was more impressive than
New York's win over a struggling opponent, the Colorado Crush didn't
receive the same boost. Nevertheless, Colorado (6-2) moved up one
place to No. 3. The Crush next hosts the Las Vegas Gladiators (5-4).
The No. 5. Orlando Predators (6-3) also advanced just a spot.
Orlando, which defeated Austin 51-21, hosts the No. 8 Los Angeles
Avengers. Los Angeles (5-3) moved into the poll following a 59-28
rout of Tampa Bay.
Dallas and San Jose share the No. 6 ranking after experiencing
mixed results. Dallas fell three places, and San Jose – which beat
Las Vegas 81-75 – moved up a slot. The Desperados are idle; the
SaberCats host the Arizona Rattlers (2-7).
