LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Having gone through a major shakeup
this week, the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA)
Top 8 Poll should receive another jolt after this weekend.
Most notably, the No. 1 Tampa Bay Storm visit the No.
2 Orlando Predators. Tampa Bay (2-0) received 14 first-place votes
and 119 points in this week's poll, and Orlando (2-0) picked up
the other first-place vote and totaled 101 points. The Storm is
coming off a 62-45 victory over the Austin Wranglers, and the Predators
defeated the Arizona Rattlers 51-40.
Arizona's loss dropped it out of the poll from No. 3, making
the Rattlers (1-1) one of four teams to fall from the rankings.
The others were the Las Vegas Gladiators (1-1) from No. 5, Dallas
Desperados (1-1) from No. 6 and the Georgia Force (1-1) from a tie
for No. 8.
Las Vegas lost 66-31 at San Jose (1-1), which moved up to No.
3 from a tie for eighth. The SaberCats play at the New Orleans VooDoo
(1-1), which moved into the poll at No. 8 following a 59-34 victory
over the Nashville Kats.
The Chicago Rush (1-1) also entered the poll, taking the No.
4 spot after its 51-41 victory over the Philadelphia Soul. Philadelphia
(1-1) dropped five places to No. 7. The Souls hosts Nashville (1-1),
and Chicago is at the No. 5 Colorado Crush (1-1), which beat the
Grand Rapids Rampage 72-56 to move up two spots.
After opening their season with a 55-45 victory over Dallas,
the New York Dragons entered the poll at No. 6. The Dragons are
at Las Vegas.
