Avengers' lineman records three sacks, safety
LOS ANGELES' DEMARY IS
AFLWA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – It was a tragic weekend in the AFL, and the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) is considering how best to honor Al Lucas, who died after trying to make a tackle Sunday against the New York Dragons.

Considering the circumstances and the performance, Lucas' teammate, lineman Silas Demary, put in an effort that could not be overlooked and is the AFLWA Player of the Week.

Demary made three sacks and a safety and forced a fumble in the Avengers' 66-35 victory over the Dragons. He is the first lineman and first Avenger to receive this honor this season.

It was an important victory for Los Angeles (6-4), which moved into a tie for first place in the Western Division with the San Jose SaberCats.

The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director. The association's website is www.aflwa.com.
