LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – No team dropped out of the Top 8 Poll,
but plenty of movement occurred within the latest rankings, which
were conducted by the Arena Football League Writers Association
(AFLWA).
Only the top two spots remained the same – No. 1 San Jose SaberCats
and No. 2 New Orleans VooDoo. Both clubs are 7-1, with the SaberCats
receiving 12 first-place votes and 117 points and the VooDoo the
other three first-place votes and 108 points. Last weekend, San
Jose defeated the Tampa Bay Storm 62-55, and New Orleans was off.
The Chicago Rush (6-2) moved up a spot to No. 3 following its
57-55 victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators.
Tied for fourth were the Colorado Crush (6-3) and Los Angeles
Avengers (5-3). Colorado moved down a place after a 45-42 loss to
the Indiana Firebirds, and Los Angeles advanced three spots following
an 81-70 victory over the Austin Wranglers. Austin (5-3) fell from
a tie for fifth to No. 8.
The New York Dragons (5-3) moved up two spaces to No. 6 with
a 57-41 victory over the Carolina Cobras, and the Dallas Desperados
(5-3) dropped from a tie for fifth to No. 7 after a 47-31 loss to
the Philadelphia Soul.

Dallas, and Colorado is at Los Angeles. Other games involving ranked
teams include New Orleans at the Orlando Predators (3-5), Tampa
Bay (3-6) at Chicago, New York at the Columbus Destroyers (2-6)
and the Georgia Force (4-5) at Austin.
