LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – The San Jose SaberCats became the
first team to have more than one player earn Player of the Week
when wide receiver/linebacker James Roe was honored by the
board of the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA).
Roe set a club record with seven touchdown catches, including
a 7-yarder with seven seconds left to give the SaberCats a 62-55
victory over the defending champion Tampa Bay Storm.
San Jose trailed by 17 points at halftime, but Roe helped the
rally with three touchdown receptions in the third quarter and two
more in the fourth. He finished with 11 receptions for 158 yards.
The other SaberCat to receive the AFLWA honor was quarterback
Mark Grieb in Week 3.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
