LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – Austin Wranglers offensive specialist
Tacoma Fontaine had a breakout performance with 205 yards
and five touchdowns receiving and is the Player of the Week, as
selected by the board of Arena Football League Writers Association
(AFLWA).
He led the Wranglers to a 70-58 victory over the Detroit Fury
on Thursday, making the most of his seven receptions.
Fontaine is a rookie, having moved up after a standout season
with the af2 champion Tulsa Talons last year. Though making just
his second start, he has nine touchdowns in three weeks.
With Tulsa last season, Fontaine caught 93 passes for 1,229 yards
with 30 touchdowns. He also returned three kicks for touchdowns.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football
League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is
the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
