LAS VEGAS (AFLWA) – San Jose SaberCats quarterback
Mark Grieb was named the Player of the Week by the board of
the Arena Football League Writers Association.
In a key Western Division matchup Sunday, Grieb led the SaberCats
to a 61-55 road victory over the Los Angeles Avengers. Grieb completed
18 of 21 passes for 207 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions.
His performance might have put San Jose back on top of the AFLWA
Top 8 poll, which will be released Wednesday. The SaberCats were
No. 2 heading into that game, and Los Angeles was No. 1.
Grieb is a six-year pro out of UC-Davis. He was named league
Offensive Player of the Year in 2002 after leading the SaberCats
to the ArenaBowl title.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football
League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is
the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
