Nagy completed 28-of-39 passes for 282 yards with six touchdowns
in Carolina's 67-41 victory over the Dallas Desperados. He also
rushed for a touchdown as the Cobras snapped a league-record 17-game
losing streak in the season opener.
Nagy, who completed 15-of-21 passes in the first half for 160
yards and three touchdowns, said, "We've put last year behind us.
We just wanted to come out here and get a win. The coaches worked
hard getting guys in here in the offseason and we knew we had the
talent. It was just a matter of catching some breaks and going out
and doing our thing."
This is the first of the AFL player of the week awards that will
be given out by the AFLWA board each Monday this season.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national
organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football
League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is
the AFLWA's founder and executive director.
